A Report on Fund Raising for Earthquake Victims

On Wednesday, 18th November 2009, Adrian Zulfikar and Yuhefizar—representing Nofrin of MPKAS—handed over the money donated by railfans in a campaign to help the victims of Padang earthquake, especially railway company’s employees whose houses were ruined by the quake. The sum of the money was Rp 2500000. Adrian and Yuhefizar were warmly greeted by Head of West Sumatra Regional Division II Yudith, his deputy Busrizal, Andi of treasury division and Syafrial Romeyo of public relations division.

A Report on Citayam-Nambo Line Inspection and Maintenance

The event was held on 18th October 2009 in which PT Kereta Api, IRPS, Kompak, GM-MarKA, and KRL-Mania participated. Acting as a coordinator was Slamet Haryadi of Jakarta branch of IRPS. First the team assembled a motorised draisine to carry railway company’s grass cutting tools. Then the draisine moved eastward from Cibinong Station to Nambo Station. At the location, a part of the team started to cut tall grass growing wild along the rail line, meanwhile the draisine returned to Cibinong to pick up waiting railfans.

IRPS’ Participations in Railway Stations Conservation Discussion

A team of Identification Mission on the Revitalisation of Indonesia’s Railway Stations, consisted of Homme Heringa of Bureau Spoorbouwmeester and Ben de Vries of Netherlands Cultural Heritage Agency, was invited by PT Kereta Api’s Center for Historical Asset Preservation. The mission aims at defining Indonesian-Dutch cooperation in conserving and revitalising historical railway stations in Indonesia in their urban setting and social development. At the end of the visit, the team would recommend the possibility of Indonesian and Dutch cooperation in conserving and revitalising the stations.

A Social Act on the Road

An event named A Social Act on the Road was held by Komunitas Karyawan Muda Dekenat Jakarta Timur (Young Professionals Community of East Jakarta Dekenat) on 16th August 2009 to celebrate the oncoming 64th birthday of Indonesia’s independence on the next day. Two main activities of the event were a motorcycle tour between Tebet Station and Citayam Station in Jakarta and a social act, which was giving donation to guards of level crossings between the two stations. The committee of the event invited Jakarta branch of IRPS to participate in the event. The event was also supported by PT Kereta Api, Artha Graha Peduli, Pertamina and FIF.

Indonesia Rail Transport Roadshows

In order to heighten positive images and love of rail transport in Indonesia, Director of Personnel and General Division of PT Kereta Api (Indonesian State Railway Company) had developed ideas of Indonesia rail transport roadshows. The roadshows would also promote trains love campaign, education on history and development of Indonesia rail transport, and the railway company’s products and services. The director also asked IRPS’ support and assistance in the roadshows.

IRPS and Young Bikers Heritage Trail

Pujiono, The Steam Locomotive Doctor

A 54-year-old man, wearing a yellow T-shirt on which oil spots scattered, greeted railfans who visited Ambarawa Steam Locomotive Depot—used to be an asset of NIS—in Central Java. He was Pudjiono, who was born in Ambarawa on 15th March 1955 and was about to retire from his position as Head of Ambarawa Steam Locomotive Depot—he was posted to this position in 2000. He was a leader who was willing to dirty his hands and shirt while maintaining and repairing steam locomotives. An example was he went to check the under parts of C12 18 when the steamer was in a preparation to be reactivated in March 2006.

A Report on the Inauguration of Tanjung Priuk Station and the Presentation of ESS 3201 locomotive

A Report on the IRPS and Indonesian State Railway company (PT Kereta Api) Management meeting

On April 1, 2009, in the auditorium of Indonesian State Railway company (PT Kereta Api/PT KA) headquarter in Bandung, West java, was an installation ceremony for several employees of PT KA who where at the level of subdirectorate chief due to the company’s restructuration. An interesting fact of the ceremony was the inauguration of Indonesian Railway Preservation and Heritage Center, which was under the command of Executive Vice President (EVP) Ella and two vice presidents at the level of subdirectorate chief, i.e. Vice President/VP of Building and Non-building.

Cleaning Up BB200 29 locomotive

A Discussion on the Finding of Samarang Station

A discussion titled “Jejak Sejarah Stasiun Kereta Api di Indonesia (History Trace of Indonesian Railway Station)” was held in Soegijapranata Catholic University, Semarang, Central Java, on March 22, 2009. IRPS was represented by Karyadi Baskoro. The speaker was A Kriswandhono, and architect-archeologist who was also the Second Head of HAPBI (Indonesia Building Maintenance Experts Grup). Acting as the moderator was Tubagus P Svarajati, the owner of Yaitu House of Art.

Cleaning Up CC200 15 locomotive

This event was proposed by Totok Purwanto, a member of Bandung branch of IRPS who was on duty in Cirebon, and held in Cirebon locomotive Depot on March 22, 2009. Cirebon was located 185 kilometers north-east of Bandung, West Java.

A Report on Retracing Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priuk Line

On February 21, 2009, a group of 30 people gathered at Jakarta Kota Station. They were two reporters of Merdeka daily, two members of Sahabat Museum community and IRPS members. They were about to retrace the Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priuk line. According to Riawan Widarsono, coordinator representative of Jakarta branch of IRPS, the purpose of the event was to recollect data about historical assets along the line. All data and documents gathered should be submitted to PT Kereta Api Daerah Operasi (Operation Region) I and Director General of Indonesian Railway.

Visiting Yogyakarta Workshop (Balai Yasa) and the diesel locomotive driving school facilities (BPTT) Yogyakarta

At least 25 IRPS members gathered under Lempuyangan flyover, Yogyakarta, to visit the Yogyakarta Balai Yasa (Workshop) and BPTT (a school for locomotive engineers) Yogyakarta on February 16, 2009. They came from Jakarta, Bandung, Purwokerto, Surabaya and, of course, Yogyakarta. Head of Production Unit Bambang Trisilo and some staff members of BY Pengok greeted the team.
